Top notch safari operator This could be a long one as I sing the praises of BRIGHTE MAASAI ADVENTURES, but they are THAT good. I'm going to preface this by saying this is my 3rd safari (1st in Kenya) so expectations were high. BRIGHTE MAASAI ADVENTURES absolutely blew me away. From the first emails responding to my laundry list of questions (the team were replying at crazy hours in their timezone) all the way to Whats Ap messages days after our safari ended, these guys know what good communication is. Upon arrival in Nairobi Dickson, James and Dennis ( all true Maasai warriors) met us to show us the car we'd call home for the next six days and go over everything (great for my travel partner as I had taken care of all the booking and planning with the guys). Then, with James and Dennis at the wheel, we took off the very next day. I don't think enough can be said about James' depth of knowledge and skill. Hands down the best guide I've ever come across. Not only did he know the best spots for finding the animals, an avid photographer himself, James knew the best angles so I could take the most incredible shots of my life. The thing that set this team apart, however, was their friendly warmth. The ever smiling Dennis and truly lovable James taught us so much about Kenya, the Maasai, the reserves and animals but in such away that we all felt like one happy quartet of friends. Each morning we were greeted with excitement from James and Dennis along with huge smiles and open arms. All the while, Dickson would be in contact via what's ap, making sure our dream vacation was living up to expectations. 100% it was. We loved the ease of travelling to and exploring 3 different parks/ reserves ( Amboseli, Nakuru and Maasai Mara- James' legit backyard) as well as the great accomodation ( ask to include Bella Camp:inside the Maasai Mara reserve as part of your accomodation wishes, but only if you enjoy falling to sleep to the sounds of lions roaring or eating breakfast beside sunbathing hippos). Absolutely every detail was taken care of by BRIGHTE MAASAI ADVENTURES and every one of my requests - a trip to a Maasai Village, a boat ride on Lake Naivasha , a great pic of a giraffe drinking water were fulfilled...and then some. Do yourself a favor and book your very reasonably priced safari with BRIGHTE MAASAI ADVENTURES, an outstanding operator that deserves 6 stars! We miss you James, Dennis and Dickson.

Brighte Maasai is perfect for your safari Alpha, Dickson, and Eric at Brighte Maasai are fantastic and we would definitely do game drives with them again! They picked us up from our lodging in Nairobi and drove us all the way to the Mara, including stops for food, water, and washrooms. We arrived in the early afternoon and then went out to the plains at 4 PM for game drives and sunset. We also did early morning game drives and sunrise from 6-10 AM. Each game Drive was incredible! We saw so many animals including giraffes, elephants, zebras, warthogs, buffalo, wildebeest, gazelles, and more as well as babies for most of these. We even saw a number of lions and their cubs, and also a few cheetahs and also one leopard too. We saw all of the big five animals except for the rhino (so close on that one!). We would definitely use them as our guides again! They were thoughtful and kind and very caring of the Mara.

What a truly fantastic experience! Bright Maasai picked us up in Narobi and handled all the logistics to get to and from the wonderful Masai Mara. They wuickly proved to be excellent wildlife guides, indeed! They consistently went above and beyond to provide excellent service. They truly care about the animals and conservation and the details they were able to provide while guiding us in the Mara made the experience even more enjoyable. The safari vehicles were comfortable and well appointed. Overall, I can't recommend these guys enough. Thanks, Alpha, Dickson, and Eric, for the most fantastic safari experience

Invaluable Two travel companions and I recently enjoyed the services of Brighte Maasai for 16 nights of touring in Kenya. I found their services outstanding; exceptional beyond essential. The entire trip went very smoothly and moreover we had a blast. Our guides were organizationally vigilant and consistently well-prepared. Our journey was fun, fascinating, spontaneous, safe – the entire experience continues to resonate within my thoughts and memory. Much of my appreciation stands on the experience and thoughtfulness of our guides. We met up with Dickson and Don in the Mara where we spent a week on wildlife safari. From there, we stopped in Kisumu before five nights in Kakamega Rainforest, followed by visits to Lakes Naivashu and Nakuru before returning to Nairobi. I am not going to recount the amazing experiences we had, but in terms of guide reviews, several aspects of our their services stood out for me. Much of our itinerary was fairly open, and our guides not only filled the schedule with events and stops, but also smoothly added adaptations when unexpected events arose. Their services were invaluable when roads were impassable, accommodations needed changing, in negotiating Covid testing requisites or locating various supplies. It was obvious to us that Dickson and Don had done quite a bit of pre-trip planning, and that seemed to pay off all along our journey. As an amateur photographer, I appreciated the way they approached wildlife with the tour vehicles, always working carefully to get us in position for outstanding views and lighting. Their sandbags provided excellent shooting beds for my zoom lens. They got us amazing close and safe views, identified and characterized as much as we could ask about, kept our imaginations expanding, curiosities excited, and eyes blinking with delight and wonderous disbelief. For a nature-seeker like myself, I can easily say the ecstasy was beyond my most guarded hopes. However what I may remember most fondly from our times together is the good humor and spirits. I enjoyed the laughter, joking, and delight from start to finish. The grace and ease of their hospitality continues to energize me in reflection, and I hope to be a returning customer before long.

Trip of a Lifetime! Wow! Dickson gave us the trip of a lifetime! I traveled with two friends and designed an itinerary that included the Maasai Mara, then a stop at Lake Victoria, then the rainforest in Kakamega, and then Lake Nakuru. Dickson helped us make that itinerary happen - with transport and assistance and guiding the whole way. Make an itinerary and he will make it happen. We flew from Nairobi to the airstrip in the Mara - quite a sight to see herds of elephants and giraffes from 1000 feet in the air! Dickson picked us up at the airstrip, and our 15-night adventure began at Lorian safari camp, where the local Maasai warriors gave us a spectacular welcome with traditional chants and songs. The Maasai patrol the Lorian to keep visitors and staff safe from the beasts that roam about, but more than that, they give the Lorian it's true character and make the glamping so much more colorful, personable, and fun. The glamping was very comfortable - big poofy duvets, full bath and shower in every tent, and very cool mild summer evenings perfect for sleeping. The Lorain also provided top level service, and the chef was able to provide delightful food that accommodated all of our dietary restrictions. We spent 7 fabulous days on the Mara, and I saw every wild beast you could imagine. Massive herds of grazing animals all mixing together, with leopards and lions nearby waiting for a meal. A real highlight was driving down toward the Tanzania border to see the beginning of the wildebeest and zebra migration. Dickson made sure we saw all there was to see, and he and his assistant Don were gracious, funny, and always ready to help with whatever was going on. One of my favorite things was the breakfast or lunch stops, sometimes for coffee too, where we could get out of the safari truck and have a picnic. One day we stopped near a hippo hole, and we were amused at all their cavorting (they are also very stinky). Whenever there was wildlife to observe, Dickson spotted it first and got us in the best position to watch and take photos. He and Don were ridiculously good at seeing things we would not have seen - Dickson even spotted and recovered one of our lost phones in the middle of endless savannah! Another of my favorite days involved a trip to the local Maasai village. Dickson arranged for us to be able to visit the primary school and bring some educational materials. Meeting the beautiful children and seeing how they manage to provide school in such a remote area was fascinating, and of course I let the little girls play with my long white-girl hair:). After the school visit we toured the traditional Maasai village and bought gifts from the amazing display they put out for visitors. If you go to the Mara, try to see the people too. The Maasai are a colorful vibrant people, rightly proud of their culture and heritage. Dickson is the embodiment of all that is traditional AND modern in the Maasai, and he is the perfect ambassador for a glimpse into their world. If you want to get the best experience and best photos, pay extra for the photo permit! For a full week pass it's about an extra $70/day (for the whole group). It's irresponsible and just wrong to pressure your guide to leave the established track without a permit, because the guide gets fined, not you. If you don't have the permit, you'll wish you did. Just pay for it and enjoy the much closer access to the animals. Dickson's safari truck itself was one of the best I saw - the top pops up so you can observe the wildlife, and the windows can transition from canvas roll ups (for the Mara) to regular glass windows (for driving in the rest of Kenya). The vehicle has everything you might need - six comfortable window seats so everyone has a good view, charging outlets for phones and cameras, beanbag like things to put your camera on and steady it when you shoot from the truck, always a full flat of water bottles in the back, and a communication radio for safety. Dickson is an expert in managing 4-wheel drive through the rutted roads of the Mara, and every stream crossing is a bumpy, giggly adventure. I can't say enough about the great service Dickson and his assistant Don provided. They were top-notch wildlife guides in the Mara and top notch travel guides in the rest of Kenya. If you want a real safari, with real guides who live there and know the Mara, hire Dickson. You'd spend a lot more money to go with a big corporate travel group, or you can put your money right into a Maasai tribe - where Dickson and the other guides use their money to support the village and its schools and churches (Dickson personally provides financial support for village orphans to board at the school, so it's money well spent). Don't be cheap in Kenya - pay what you think it's worth in your money. And count your blessings. Just go. You'll want to go back like I do. -Gina
